Modern Family’s ‘Little Bo Bleep” Episode Causes Fury

When the trailer came out for the upcoming episode of Modern Family Season 3 which is entitled ‘Little Bo Bleep’, an anti-profanity crusader requested the ABC television network to pull out this week’s episode because they were really disturbed when they seen the part when a toddler appeared to be using a ‘bleeped curse word’ in one of the scenes of the show.

According to the statement given by McKay Hatch, an 18-year old college student who founded the No Cussing Club in 2007, he said last Tuesday that their main goal is just to stop this from happening. “If we don’t, at least ABC knows that people all over the world don’t want to have a 2-year-old kid saying the ‘F-bomb’ on TV.”

“We hope they know better,” Hatch added while saying that he is actually asking his club’s members, whom he said number 35, 000 in the United States and about three dozen other countries, to complain to ABC about this matter. However, ABC seemed to be quiet about this and we haven’t heard any comment from them since Tuesday.

In the particular episode that is the center of this issue, little 2-year old Lily surprised her parents Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Gerguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) with her first expletive. During the taping, little Lily actually says the word “fudge” which was bleeped on the air and her mouth will be obscured by pixilation. However, still, the viewers will be given the impression that the kid is actually using the actual F-word. But the creator and executive producer of Modern Family, Steven Levitan, has an explanation to this.

“We thought it was a very natural story since, as parents, we’ve all been through this,” Levitan said. “We are not a sexually charged show. it has a very warm tone so people accept it more. I’m sure we’ll have some detractors.”
